2016 Annual Report

While a community may be defined by what it shares in common or perhaps a geographical area, the strength and vitality of our community are determined by its people and their goals. We might be small in size, but we are strong because of those who care and serve in a myriad of ways.

Reflecting on the past year, we remain awed by the sheer generosity of our donors, trustees, advisory board members, professional advisors, business and nonprofit leaders and staff. You each give so freely of your time, treasure and talent. Together we are working toward our goal to improve and enrich the quality of life for all in Roscommon County. Thanks to our donors, we distributed nearly $275,000.00 in grants and scholarships in 2016. Numerous nonprofits working in health, human services, community improvement, the arts, environmental conservation, and animal welfare received program and capacity-building grants that protect, educate and nurture people in our region. The Community Foundations’ donors also awarded more than 40 students with scholarships, and funded field trips, curriculum development and equipment benefitting thousands of school-age students.

The world around us is constantly changing and our community changes and evolves as well. We believe fostering positive change while focusing on steady investment management will help ensure the vitality of our community for generations to come. While market volatility was a factor this year, our strong and stable investments fared better than most and we look forward to continued growth in 2017.
