Food Giveaway and Hygiene for HOPE Project

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC), a committee of the Roscommon County Community Foundation is sponsoring a Food Truck to be brought to Roscommon County in partnership with Project H.O.P.E. (Help Our People Eat).  The YAC group recommended funding the truck through the Roscommon County Kellogg Youth Fund, and the RCCF Board agreed.  While YAC realizes that there are many people in the county who can use food, they also thought that because certain “necessities” are not covered by the Bridge Card or other avenues, they would also like to include hygiene items.
The YAC students had applied for a grant “Hygiene for HOPE” from Disney Friends for Change, but found out recently that they would not be receiving it.  This is where Plan B comes in.  The YAC groups at each high school will be having a drive for hygiene products when they return to school after the Spring Break.  The RCCF office is currently collecting donations at their office, located in the Chase Bank Building in Roscommon, until April 20, 2012.  There is a donation box outside the door of the office from 9a.m. to 3p.m. Monday through Friday.
The date for this event was chosen because Global Youth Service Days are April 20-22.  The YAC felt this would be the perfect time to highlight what the youth in our community do for our county.  They have also invited other youth groups to help.  We are very fortunate for the wonderful youth in our county and their willingness to help others in need.  We are also blessed with very generous people in our county who always step up to help those who are less fortunate. Please donate soap, shampoo, deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brushes and dental floss to our cause.  If you would prefer to make a cash donation to help us purchase the needed items, you may send a check made out to RCCF and write YAC “Hygiene for HOPE” in the memo line.  The address for RCCF is PO Box 824 Roscommon, MI 48653. The Youth Advisory Council thanks you in advance for any donation you can give!
