Houghton Lake Community Schools Receives Grant from RCCF for Labquest Equipment

Future scientists have just received a technology boost at the Houghton Lake High School with the addition of Labquest equipment to the classroom. A grant provided by the Roscommon County Community Foundation helped provide the new tools for Mr. Burnett’s science lab. The Houghton Lake Educational Foundation Fund ($1,066.00) and the Roscommon County Kellogg Youth Fund (YAC)($616.00) both contributed to the grant which totaled $1,682.00.

The Labquest equipment can be used to test pH, Gas Pressure, Voltage, Motion and Force among other things and is useful in both the Chemistry and Physics lab settings. This type of equipment is used by scientists all around the modern world, according to Mr. Burnett, and give the students an opportunity to experience the results first hand.
