The Roscommon County Community Foundation recently awarded a grant to Project H.O.P.E. from the Roscommon County General Fund. The grant is to help Project H.O.P.E. purchase food for the “Fill the Freezer” program. According to Project H.O.P.E. Coordinator Pam Stephan, the food bank served over 10,000 people in 2011, and the need continues to grow. This program specifically targets the purchase of chicken in the winter months and includes recipes to help the recipients make nutritious meals.
The Food Bank is located in the old stone building at 2563 S. Gladwin Rd. in Prudenville and they can be reached at 366-5120.
