The Roscommon County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2012 Spring Cycle Grants.
Higgins Lake Foundation was awarded a grant of $1,250.00 from the Endowment for Higgins Lake which will assist with the cost of Weed Removal Equipment Operations. They were also awarded a second grant for $1,250.00 from the Robert R. Thalner Endowment Fund to assist with the same project.
Kirtland Community College Foundation was awarded two grants to assist with food for the student food pantry at the college. The Marilyn Brown Memorial Fund awarded $350.00 and the Roscommon County Tobacco Settlement Fund added another $150.00 to bring the total to $500.00.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association was awarded $848.00 from the Roscommon County Kellogg Youth Fund to provide a camp scholarship with preference toward a new camper who is a resident of Roscommon County.
Markey Township Parks and Recreation received three grants totaling $1,100.00 for Phase One of the Park development. These included $300.00 from the Kellogg Youth Fund for BBQ, Benches and Tables, a second grant for $300.00 from the same Fund for the new drinking fountains and $500.00 from the Roscommon County General Fund for the pavilion.
Richfield Township was the recipient of four grants totaling $2,500.00 for the Lake St. Helen Pier and Kayak Launch. $1,659.00 from the Roscommon County General Fund, $195.00 from the St. Helen General Fund, $482.00 from the Roscommon County Lakes and Rivers Fund and finally, $164.00 from the Roscommon County Recreation Fund.
Roscommon County Commission on Aging was awarded a grant for $300.00 from the Roscommon County Tobacco Settlement Fund to help cover the cost of a new Chore Program Trailer.
Roscommon County Sheriff Department will receive a grant of $1,200.00 from the Roscommon County General Fund to help purchase an Evidence Collection Camera.
Roscommon High School was awarded a grant of $289.00 for the purchase of an official buzzer for the Quiz Bowl program.
Society of St. Vincent DePaul (Prudenville) was awarded several grants. The Diaper Bank received three grants totaling $2,500.00, $1,000.00 from the Kellogg Youth Fund, $1,168.00 from the Roscommon County General Fund and $332.00 from the Zonta Club Women’s and Children’s Fund. The St. Vincent’s Food Pantry received a grant for $1,000.00 from the Kellogg Youth Fund and $1,500.00 from the Roscommon County General Fund.
