Richfield Township Receives Grant from RCCF to Assist with the Purchase and Installation of Pier and Boat Launch

Richfield Township recently received a $2,500.00 grant from the Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) to assist with the purchase and installation of the Universal Accessible Fishing Pier and Canoe/Kayak Launch. Several Funds, all of which are administered by RCCF, contributed to this Grant:

Roscommon County General Fund $1,659.00
St. Helen General Fund $ 195.00
Roscommon County Lakes & Rivers Fund $ 482.00
Roscommon County Recreation Fund $ 164.00

According to the Township, “This project offers a new recreational opportunity to reach and enjoy the waters of Lake St. Helen.” Universal design refers to broad spectrum ideas meant to produce buildings, products and environments that are inherently accessible to both people without as well as people with disabilities. Universal Access goes beyond the minimal A.D.A. requirements for access and provides availability to the greatest extent possible regardless of age, ability or status in life. The new dock system is expected to be installed in June.

More information on the dock system is available at: www.ez-dock.com
