Roscommon County Commission on Aging Receives Grant to Purchase Exercise Equipment for Local Senior Centers

Seniors at the Roscommon Senior Center are thrilled with the exercise equipment purchased with a Grant Award from the Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) to the Commission on Aging. The grant covered the cost for new 2 and 3 pound hand weights, walking weights and small dumbbells, used to enhance multiple exercise classes, county wide. The goal of this exercise program is to help seniors improve their lives through the low impact exercises taught in class. Other benefits may be decreased pain, increased flexibility and range of motion, along with increased energy and overall health status. Building muscle and bone strength are added benefits.

This grant was awarded through the Roscommon County Tobacco Settlement Fund, a Fund designated to support health and smoking cessation for citizens under 18 and over 65 years of age, which is administered by the RCCF.
