Roscommon County Community Foundation Announces December 2013 Grant Recipients

The Roscommon County Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of our December 2013 Grant Cycle.

The Marilyn Brown Memorial Fund awarded the following grants:

  • Good Shepherd United Methodist Church – $500 for their personal care closet program.
  • St. Vincent DePaul Society of Roscommon – $161 to assist with the food boxes for seniors program.

The following grant was awarded from the Cornerstone Fund:

  • Richfield Township Public Library – $254 for the library’s technology upgrade.

The Endowment for Higgins Lake awarded the following grant:

  •  Higgins Lake Foundation$2,500 to assist with the Eurasion Milfoil removal and control program.

The following grant was awarded from the Gerrish-Higgins Educational Fund:

  • Roscommon Area Public Schools – $2,500 to assist with the RHS community book read.

The Houghton Lake Community School Support Fund awarded the following grants:

  • Varsity Bowling Team – $400 to assist with the bowling program.
  • Collins Elementary – $220 for the “Have You Filled A Bucket Today?” program.
  • Houghton Lake Community Education$500 to assist with a student field trip.

The Houghton Lake Education Fund awarded the following grants:

  • Collins Elementary – $280 for the “Have You Filled A Bucket Today?” program.
  • Houghton Lake Middle School – $400 for the 4th Grade Acting Up program.
  • Houghton Lake Middle School – $400 for the 5th Grade Acting Up program.

The following grant was awarded from the Alexa Luck Memorial Fund:

  • Roscommon Area District Library $500 for the Moxie Strings summer concert.

The Jim Mahoney Memorial Music Scholarship Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Roscommon Area Public Schools – $367 to assist with the purchase of an electronic piano and the choir code celebration.

The Morley Foundation Fund awarded the following grants:

  • Richfield Township Public Library – $1,789 for the library’s technology upgrade.
  • Roscommon County Commission on Aging – $509 for the Safe Seniors program.
  • St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon County – $518 to assist with their food pantry program.
  • St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon County – $438 to assist with the food boxes for seniors program.
  • Good Shepherd United Methodist Church – $1,200 to assist with their free community dinner program.
  • Roscommon Township$1,000 for the American Veterans Traveling Tribute program.

The following grants were awarded from the Roscommon County General Fund:

  • Houghton Lake Area Historical Society$1,000 for the Johnson Restoration Project.
  • Roscommon County Habitat for Humanity$2,147 to assist with the ReStore improvement project.
  • St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon County – $1,982 to assist with their food pantry program.

The following grants were awarded from the Roscommon County Kellogg Youth Fund:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lakes – $276 to assist with their lunch buddy program.
  • Good Shepherd United Methodist Church$300 for their baby pantry.
  • Houghton Lake Public Library$525 for their Tunes for Tots program.
  • Houghton Lake Wesleyan Church – $300 to assist with their baby pantry.
  • Project H.O.P.E., Inc. – $800 grant for the spring 2014 food giveaway.
  • Roscommon Metropolitan Recreational Authority$1,250 to assist with the Metro Park playground renovation project.
  • St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon County – $2,006 to assist with their diaper bank.
  • Second Chance Academy – $1,000 to purchase chromebooks.

The Roscommon County Lakes and Rivers Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Richfield Township Public Library – $300 grant for their fishing gear for loan program.

The Roscommon County Recreation Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Markey Township – $128 to assist with their baseball field improvements.

The following grants were awarded from the Roscommon County Tobacco Settlement Fund:

  • St. Vincent DePaul of Roscommon County – $675 for the food boxes for seniors program.
  • Roscommon County Commission on Aging $675 for their Safe Seniors program.

The St. Helen General Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Richfield Township Public Library – $157 to assist with the library’s technology upgrade.

The Robert R. Thalner Endowment Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Muskegon River Watershed Assembly$2,150 to assist with their aquatic invasive species boat washing and education program.

The following grants were awarded from the Sarah Eulaine Tucker (class of 1977) Fund:

  • Roscommon Area Public Schools – $2,133 to assist with the purchase of an electronic piano and the choir code celebration.
  • Roscommon Area Booster Club – $350 to assist with the Rome by Night project.
  • Roscommon Area Booster Club – $1,100 to assist with the Swiss Folklore Cultural Evening program.
  • Roscommon Area Booster Club – $980 to assist with the Paris by Night project.

The Wade Family Donor Advised Fund awarded the following grants:

  • Gahagan Nature Preserve, Inc. – $1,500 to assist with their visiting naturalist program.
  • Houghton Lake United Methodist Church – $143 for the Sara’s Bears project.
  • Project H.O.P.E., Inc. – $1,200 for their stock the shelves 2014 project.

The Zonta Women’s and Children’s Fund awarded the following grant:

  • Good Shepherd United Methodist Church$169 for their baby pantry.

The Roscommon County Community Foundation (RCCF) is pleased to assist with these outstanding projects and programs within our county.  Your support and gifts, received at RCCF, are making a difference in our community.
